A 25-year-old Zanesville man is in custody after a five-week drug investigation was concluded Wednesday, says Detective Mike Lecocq, of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office. The operation was a joint effort between the sheriff’s office and the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Officials say that the arrest was made at the intersection of Seventh Street and Elberon Street, in Zanesville, at around 4:40 PM. Three of the four suspects taken into custody were later released, but Timothy James Thomas was charged with three counts of trafficking in drugs, and three counts of possession of drugs. The sheriff’s office expects Thomas will soon be arraigned in the Zanesville Municipal Court, and detectives hope to present the case to a Muskingum County Grand Jury next week. Thomas remains in custody at the county jail.

Additional arrests are expected to stem from the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office at 740-455-7917, or the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force at 740-349-4847.
