The Zanesville Police Department is holding a 26-year-old Zanesville man in custody, in relation to an early morning robbery that took place at the Starfire Station, on Pershing Road. Investigators say that a white male entered the station just after 4:00 AM, Tuesday, and demanded money from the clerk. He reportedly gestured that he was armed. The suspect received the cash and fled the scene on foot. He was described as a white male wearing black pants, a white hooded jacket and a white bandana to hide his identity.
Officials say that a man matching the suspect’s description was later spotted on Luck Avenue. He was taken into custody and remains in the Zanesville City Jail, where he awaits prosecution. No injuries were reported.
In unrelated news, Zanesville police continue to search for a missing female who disappeared from her Maplehill Street residence last weekend. 24-year-old Jamie L. Smart was last seen leaving the home on Friday evening, officials say. She is described as bi-racial, around five feet tall and weighing approximately 105 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray pants, a light gray sweater and sandals.
Anyone with information regarding the possible whereabouts of Jaime Smart is encouraged to contact the Zanesville Police Department at 455-0700.
